a simple question in the plane small presentation it is said the leading spad ace is William Cochran-patrick with 18 victory on the type I am wondering how many victory did Fonk and Guynemer got on the Spad (I am living a long way from my sources)

Cochran-Patrick was the leading BRITISH pilot on SPADs with 18 victories (6+ destroyed.) Except for his first, evidently all of Fonck's victories were in SPADs. Guynemer's first was in a Morane; the next 14 in Nieuports and 38 in SPADs (based on escadrille designations.)
Question: how many of Nungesser's victories were in Nieuports and SPADs? The situation is confused by his 1917 stint with V.116 (9 victories). I assume he flew a SPAD in that period but have never found anything definite.
Is Phil N. still working on the biography? Sure hope so.

In the biography wrote by Marcel Juilan in 1953, it is wrote that Nungesser only flew on Nieuport scouts before 1918. Nothing could give good informations about the a/c Nungesser flew during 18, but it's clear that he prefers Nieuports than any others types; "his first love was the Nieuport".

Hi All:
Does anyone have anything more on the MS A-1. that CS flew apparently only after the war? I have only the single photo of him next to the cockpit, facing the camera in dress uniform with that marvelously macabre insignia displayed on the fuselage. I'd like to get other photos or any reference to text that describes his use of that pursuit type. Is there info on those stripes on the fuselage? Most likely the "Tricolors" of France? BTW: His Hanriot that he brought to the U.S. for a post-war tour is on display at the Chino Air Museum here in So. Calif. VBR...Lee
