Hi, Beginning 1915 a German seaplane was carried by a German submarine to get close to Britain. The sub dived and the plane started his flight. Can someone give me more details of this event?

I can’t actually provide you any information on your German submarine. However, there was also a British submarine (the M2) which was converted to carry a small biplane that sank with of all of its crew in 1932. You can find a diving related article about the submarine at http://www.divernet.com/wrecks/wtour5799.htm . It is regularly visited to this day by divers, although it not possible to enter the submarine, other than the hanger. As it is obviously considered to a military grave.

Bernard, maybe posting the same question on the Kaiserlisch Marine forum or on the KuK Marine forum you'll find someone able to give you the details you're looking for.The addresses are: http://www.f22.parsimony.net/forum56651/ (Kaiserlische Marine) http://www.f22.parsimony.net/forum39593/ (KuK Marine) VBR AGO

This looks like an excellent resource. I hate that I can't read German. Could you tell me what these fora are for exactly?

Regards,

John

These fora (as you correctly say) are opened to the enthusiasts of WWI Austro-Hungarian and German Imperial navies. As far as I know there are currently also messages in English posted there.
