Does anyone know for sure that Raben's Jasta 18 DVII was predominantly red? It's only that it occurs to me that if my name was "Raven" and I was Jasta commander black would seem to be the obvious choice. After all, 25 years ago his DrI was always depicted as blue. Just stirring the possum

Peter:
Jasta 18 under Ltn. August Raben, flew aircraft the were over painted with a white cowling face/ radiator shell, vermilion red nose to just aft of the cockpit, white rear fuselage and fin and rudder. The wings were vermilion red as were the struts and u/c. Personal markings were restricted to the tailplane. On Raben's aircraft the vermilion red continued to approximately the mid rear fuselage. On Raben's aircraft a white raven was stenciled on red area on both sides of the fuselage aft of the cockpit. All other aircraft in Jasta 18, had black ravens stenciled on the whites fuselage sides aft of the cockpit. The blue noses originated with a bunch of phoney crap that came from Rodney Gerrard about 15 years ago. This is confirmed data.
Blue skies,
