Hi Guys, I need information from this book! I have not been able to locate a copy to buy and it is the source for details on the Aviatik 30.40 of which I would like to build a 1/4 scale R/C model. I have ordered a 1/48 scale plastic kit of this plane but I would like to see what additional information the book has on it like plans, color schemes/markings and other details. If anyone has the book and can provide me with the information I am looking for please respond and we'll work out the details. Cheers!

Aviatik on Aviatik here:

The book will be republished by Flying Machines Press in the coming months. Go to www.flying-machines.com for details. The color scheme for this aircraft was the serrated bands (sawtooth) pattern of olive drab greenish and pale beige/yellow ochre. I don't have the Methuen reference numbers here but will have to check and post later.

The Aviatik parasol monoplane 30.40 serial number was in black on the fuselage with no cross. The rudder and wings had Eiserne Kreuz markings but no white surrounds. The cowling was circular and had round holes cut out in the bottom front portion. Also, the engine was the 11-cylinder 150 Le Rhone (Steyr built)

The upper wing had ailerons that had washout at the tips very similar to all of the von Berg designs for Aviatik. The wing section was thin and braced with two sets of struts that fastened diagonally from the outboard wing area to the lower fuselage.

I believe there was a company, Aerodrome Models, that may have offered a large scale model of this airplane.

Looks like it has just been re-issued. I checked the website and it is there.
