Please explain.......

It will be interesting to see if anyone can explain these pictures or knows what they are about. I'll leave it for awhile and then give the answer.

I'm never good at your challenges lol. . The photos look to be modern black and white and shot at a modern airfield. It looks like lights on the runway.

Also it looks like they have been outside for a while....are they parts of a collection being readied for restoration perhaps?

G'Day Breguet,

It looks like a B.E. 2b and an Albatros C.I.

Cheers, FOKKERJ

What Tim said. The tires are modern with what looks like a straight-line tread pattern -- like you'd see on lawn equipment. The fuselage with the cockade has a tail wheel that's obviously there to help wheel the thing around. I see runway lights and a modern background too. Some stuff from the Krakow collection maybe?

Hi,

I'm thinking we're seeing a prop mock/up and maybe the fuselage of the replica BE2 that were both created for the BBC TV series "Wings", which is currently under a good deal of discussion on another thread. But I'm not certain - I only saw one episode, when I was in London many years ago....

I know that they used some very convincing flying models in the series too.

Hey..they might be mock ups huh? The prop for the BE2 looks odd at its center and the engine looks odd. Now that you mention it.

At first I thought it might be the BE2 at the IWM before a restoration but the tail skid is wrong and frankly I dont know much about either of these two A/C types to know the difference.

I'd like to model the Be2 some day though..

We are just too clever!! Well done. These are indeed "leftovers" after the BBC series Wings was finished. Over at the Biggles Biplane Restoration they are restoring the BE 2 but I like to know what happened to the C1.
PS What other threads Greg?

This one, Breguet:

http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/mo...tv-series.html

The C.I was always just a non-flying mock-up, pasted together with scenes of an R/C flying model, right? Still, all in all, pretty convincing.

Thanks Greg. I was wondering if the C1 flew. I still wonder what happened to it after this photo was taken.

And the prop on the Albatros is screwing in the wrong direction. Also the BE engine is not the usual V-8, but an upright 4.
