Hello!

I am looking for a bit of info on an Albatross DVa # 5636/17. What was the Jasta this aircraft was assigned to? And, what pilot flew it? Also, what markings were used on upper and lower surfaces of BOTH wings?? Is there any other significant info bits about this plane?? Thanks for any help...

* Darrin, do you have a photo of this Alb.D.Va5636/17? D.5635/17 and D.5639/17 were assigned to Jasta 5. it is possible but not a certainty. *D.5629/17 was in Jasta 84 and D.5632/17 was in Jasta 24s. *Send me a copy of the photo if you have it. *The wings and tailplanes on all these machines were camouflaged in mauve and dark green on the top surfces and sky blue on the under sides.

DanSan,

The Albatros i speak of, 5636/17, is currently on display at the Champlin Fighter museum in Mesa, AZ. I do have some poor quality photos of this bird that are the reason for the questions. I doubt you'd like to see em. Email me privately if you can, and we will see what can be done. ok? Reason why I ask about the origins of this albatross, are the fact that my wife has fallen in love with this plane, now wanting to build models, and possibly a 100% scale airplane. And thus I have been sent on a fact-finding mission. Any ideas?

Darrin, that is interesting about your wife and Alb.DV 5636/17 is Blitz, Ltn. Hippel's machine, in Jasta 5. I am not sure this is a bonified number.
I have a friend in Texas who is planning to build a Alb.C.X. He puchased from me all my alb. C.X drawing in color. One of them weas painted in two shades of mauve, his wife said that is what I want you to build. So, my friend is going to build Alb.C.X(OAW) in mauve!
Blue skies,

Dan-San;

thanks for the info.. I appreciate it. Its amazing how much influence spouses can have on us, especially when it comes down to building! My wife, fell inlove with the Alb. D5a that was on display there at the champlin museum.. and now wants one. Amazing!
