I thought this was my chance...
...but beyond guessing at a German reconnaissance plan with in-line engine and possibly plywood fuselage, I cannot make out what that mess represents!

Hi Bruno,
judging by the type of fuselage construction and the coaming at the cockpit front I would say it is a Pfalz D.XII.

Three times a Kanone! Six times an ACE!
Hello Bruno,
Congratulations on your last kill!
This foto that you have submitted for our scrutiny
looks like the business end of an octopus with training wheels.
You should be very please with yourself!

Hello Bruno,
Upon closer examination it appears to not be an octopus, but an actual wrecked airframe. By the looks of the instrumentation panel it may be a Halberstadt CL.IV.

Hello Jay
Happy to see you again
No this Octopus is not an Halberstadt
I recognize that this challenge is not easy even if all the clues are already present in the previous post

I've seen the reply, which states that it is not a Pfalz D.XII, but I have to agree with Joachim, the coaming at the front of the cockpit looks unmistakably like that of the D.XII. Without having ready access to a lot of my research material, and without having thought about it for too long, my best guess at this time would be a Pfalz D.III, although I am not sure if any of them would have still been in service by the time that style of marking was introduced. I do have a secondary guess if it is not a Pfalz D.III, although I assume that if a secondary guess is allowed, it would have to be made after a reply is recieved. Regards to all, David.
