I am new to this forum and am looking for the best book to introduce me to the general history and issues relating to WWI aviation. Also looking for a great introduction to German WWI aviation. Any suggestions?
Answers can be sent to me at slamm@cannondev.com. Many thanks!
If you want a good review of the issues and history of WW1 aviation, I suggest you try The Great War in the Air by John H. Morrow, Jr. This is one of the books in the Smithsonian History of Aviation Series, and provides quite a good review of the emergence of military aviation in the period 1909-1921.

Hello Slamm, i agree with TomVrille that the John Morrow book is most necessary. you should also seek a copy of Noffsinger, James Philip, World War I Aviation: A Bibliography of Books in English, French, German and Italian. Lanham, MD: Scarecrow Press, 1997. it will lead you to many excellent sources. cheers,
