If anyone can offer any information as to how and where I can find a plan or other information on this AC I would really appreciate it. I have looked at the USAF museum pic's. Thanks.

Thanks R Pope, I found it interesting as well. I guess it's just not a very popular aircraft. I'm sure when someone finds the time they will respond if they have any info. I haven't been let down yet. Maybe just no interest in American built aircraft? From New Jersey no less! Cheers!

Fitz,
Just so happens I'm doing some half-hearted research on Charles Day, Plainfield NJ and the H-3 tonight.

Off the cuff here's a bit. Sorry not plans just stats. Ill keep you in mind.

Rod,
Thanks for your consideration. I found some detailed 3-views in Bob Banka's Aircraft Documentation (scale model research). Go to www.bobsairdoc.com Regards,

Fitz

Here is a link to photos of a preserved full-size example on display at the Virginia Aviation Museum. There is also a small 3-View on this page.

http://www.eaa231.org/Museum/E1/E1.htm

I believe the old Harleyford series book on Fighters 1914-1918 (Lamberton & Cheesman authors) has an entry for the E-1 including a 3 view in 1/72 scale or so, some photos and text. Also there is a color plate and some text in Kenneth Munson's "Fighters 1914-1919, Attack and Training Aircraft". The color plate has a side view and a split-plan top/bottom view.

I've often thought this airplane, and other U.S. airplanes in this category like the Orenco and the Heinrich Victor Scout would be interesting model subjects, either flying or non-flying. I remember seeing the Heinrich published as a small contol-liner in an old model magazine (M.A.N.?) from late '40's or early 50's, and the Orenco as a solid-model subject in a reprint of some "Flying Aces" material from the 30's. Can't recall seeing the Standard E-1 presented as a model anywhere, but it could well have been.

Regards

Thanks GreenKnight,
I have the Harlyford book and have seen the museum pictures. Since I live and was born in New Jersey I thought it would be appropriate to take this on as a project. I think it's a nice looking plane also. If I build it I will do it in 1/4 scale so I need a plan to build from. If I get a good three view having a 1/4 scale plan done will not be too difficult. Thanks again.

John,

Have you tried Cleveland Model and Supply Co? They've got a great selection of plans.....not sure about the E-1.

Here's the link:

Hope this helps.

Thanks John,
Yes, I checked out Cleveland but struck out. By the way, I should have pictures of the ALb. XI you sent me the plans for soon. It's close to being finished. Cheers!
