To Whom it may concern:

I am declaring a personal moratorium on starting any threads concerning Billy Bishop for the rest of the year.

In other words (for the edification of other ignorant people) I will not start ANY threads that intend to have as a subject, Billy Bishop, or any part of the Billy Bishop so-called Controversy.

Also, as of this date, June 1, 2001 and time, 7:08AM EDT, I will not respond to any of the currently running threads on Bishop.

However, if you wish to know my thoughts on any matter regarding Billy Bishop, I invite you to visit http://www.billybishop.net/ as I will likely be updating that on at least a weekly basis with responses to anything I read here about him.

I'd explain this in further detail, but I'm afraid that some might think I was trying to hide the weakness of my argument.

VBR,

The Ignorant, Boring One

Dear Ig,
Should we call you that--"Ig"-- from now on?
As for Hannes, who DOES contribute interesting and scholarly and VERIFIABLE threads and replies, it's obvious that you drove him down OOC. In fact, since you did drive him crazy, why not call it DDN!, for "Driven Down NUTS!"... oh, nevermind!
PS A fiver that Smiling Albert here lasts only 5 months before he cracks...

Al,
get a grip and stiffen your upper lip.You are suffering from this new fangled "battle fatigue" I know because it happened to me.In the good old days all we did was blow our brains out with a service revolver and it cleared up the same evening.Nowadays the head doctor chappie will prescribe a spot of Home Establishment as a cure.Have a rest, get the SE with the big A on it patched up.Soon you will be back high in the empty blue cutting a swathe through the unbelievers.
Chocks Away,
Ginger.

The moratorium is only for HERE. On my site, there shall be some rather interesting articles showing up in the next few weeks. And that will likely reach a much wider audience, at least if the hits counter there is any indication. And no, it doesn't go up each time I check it out either. :-P

As for anyone else..... never mind. It all falls on deaf ears and blind eyes anyway.

VBR,

Al Lowe

I'm with you Captain Lewis.
I'm also for pros and cons, not just the former.

Peter S.,
I had thought the idea of the Forum was to discuss things aerial in WWI as well. As it is, witness the NON-WWI related threads that abound in this forum. Mind you, I don't care. In fact I've been known to participate in them myself, if the subject matter has any interest to me.

And while I had assumed that lively, yet respectful debate would be acceptable here, it now appears that unless it's "scholarly" as well, it's not wanted.

Well, I ain't no freaking scholar. I didn't go to college, university or any so-called school of higher learning.

So don't expect "scholarly" out of me. I never promised it, I never stated it, and I sure as hell never indicated it.

As for Pros and Cons, I'm all for debating pros and cons of any subject. But it seems that a particular subject draws more cons here than the federal prison in Terre Haute.

I don't mind that either, ususally. But I do get tired sometimes of the veiled and not so veiled insults directed at me. But even that doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when I even ATTEMPT to defend myself that I get bushwhacked by others with comments such as we've seen so far.

It's like certain people in this forum are NEVER wrong. Their sources simply "can't" be repudiated. And to even suggest that perhaps things are not as represented brings down the scorn of the multitudes.

So if you'll pardon me, I'll simply ignore threads related to a particular member of the clergy, and keep my comments about him restricted to my web page.

Oh, sorry it took so many words for me to explain this all, but if I hadn't, I'd have had no argument to look weak at all!

Very Best Regards,

The Ignorant Boring one.

Al,
You ... quiet about the Bishop? Say it ain't so Joe, say it ain't so!

I do understand what you mean though. Remember back a couple of years ago ... I was the man everyone loved to hate because I didn't think much of MvR and said so. I remember it like it was yesterday, the Baron goupies all shuffling toward me like a herd of angry Water Buffaloes. I drew fire from all directions, and the only one who really was a friend to me through it all was Andrew Smith. So believe me, I understand. This place does leave much to be desired at times when it comes to differences of opinion.

The ones I still love to blast are the "Let's blast the "Entente pilots, and trash Americans"
F**kin history revisionists!
Regards,
Jim 'ACE'
