Spad XIII Air Service #8517 #0, at Ellington Field, showing the insignia of the 27th Aero Sqdn and CO's stripes on the tail; Houston Texas

Dear old Arthur "Ray" Brooks as CO of the 1st Pursuit Group at Kelly Field in 1920. He had his Spad marked with the insignia of his old 22nd Aero Sqn.

A Spad with the insignia of the US Mechanics School.

You Sir have made my day.
The top photo shows exactly what I was looking for the new thrust line from the use of the direct drive Hisso. All the rest of the photos are also eye openers for me, I have found so little photo evidence of the Spad in US post war service. In Fact even post war US SE5a/e photo information is hard to find, it also had the direct drive Hisso. From what I've gleaned only 17 of the direct drive Spads were ever converted. Once again Greg you have made my day!!!!!

Thank You
