Hi, the "Boyd Loop" is not an aerial maneuver, but one name for the OODA (Observation, Orientation, Decision, Action) Loop theory of "cycle" time in military operations. If you can "cycle" through the process faster than the enemy, he will lag further behind the situation and you will win. The Gulf War has been cited as an example of this in action.
The aviation relevance is that Boyd identified this as the critical process that enabled our Sabres to beat MiG-15s in Korea by relying on their control responsiveness (and roll rate) to offset the MiG's technical advantages. I hope to test this for myself when the supposedly very realistic MiG Alley flight model arrives in several months.
