Steve and Michael,
L62 was downed, not L56, but it appears to have been due to an accident
(possibly electrical spark from lighjtning igniting the hydrogen) rather than
the British seaplane. Some more about the three British aircrew that Steve
mentioned:
Capt Thomas Cooper Pattinson (RNAS/RAF) born 12 May 1890, at Kendal,
Westmorland; he died in Westmorland, in 1971.
Capt Albert Henry Munday (RNAS/RAF) born 9 November 1892, at Melbourne,
Australia; educated in England at Eton and at Queens University, Kingston,
Ontario, Canada. Prior to the war he was a reporter for the "Toronto Daily"
and the "Toronto Telegraph" newspapers. Postwar he completed a Ph.D.,
wrote several books, and was active in aviation organizations in Canada.
He died in Toronto on 25 January 1957.
Sgt Mechanic Henry Robert Stubbington, service number F6515(RNAS) & 206515(RAF) was born on 16 August 1893, at Portsmouth, Hampshire; was an electrical fitter before the war, enlisted in 1915, and was a Fitter in the RAF. He died at Portsmouth, in 1976.
I also could not identify Air Mechanic Johnson in the absence of initials and service numbers.
