Hello all,

On this day Lieutenant T.M. Sturgess, 41 Squadron , R.F.C. on FE8 (A4925) became a POW.

This is what he said about the circumstances he became a prisoner:

2nd Lieutenant Sturgess, 41 Squadron, R.F.C., joins.

Sturgess: Think, just before taking off, our commander warned us because of the clouds, for attacking the balloons. When we reached about 2400 till 2700 m altitude, we saw a double squadron and we were just five. I had to go up till 3600 m, as I had a fight. At a height of about 4500 m I had a new fight, when another 3 planes came from the back. I was shot down and had no more opportunity to reach our own lines.
