Campbell was leading a 6 strong OP which scrapped with three German formation between 16,000 & 12,000ft; two of 10 machines and one of 8 machine described as mostly
new type Albatros (DV's). Judging by a description of another new type,
'Monocoq, with stationary engine, short wings, rounded tail, exceptional climbing powers', what Campbell described as '
Halberstadter' may have been a Roland DII.
Campbell's was cfm by Fullard, who himself closed to 6 feet of an Albatros firing all the time - HA went into vertical dive, flattened out, flew erratically and then spun rolling over and over. Confirmed by Lt Jenkin who followed it down for a distance.
