Thanks Bob - I heard these two ancestors could be pilots from another distant relation that I didn't know I had until I found them on the internet - where would we be without it!! Unfortunately no cast iron info, but I so want to be able to tell the kids who was who in the family and their contribution, when they are big enough to understand.
Is it likely that J T R would have been a pilot in WW1 as he would have been 48 years old at the outbreak? A C was his son and would have been 18.
I'll see if they have an old picture with insignia or something. I might take a trip to the archive at Kew and check out this lead - probably the only way to find out for sure. I have another relation (a Munster Fusilier) lost at Gallipoli I want to research too - so no harm in trying!
