During late 1914 and most of 1915 almost every German aeroplane was called "taube" by newspapers and non-specialist magazines in France and Great Britain. Various generic "Taube" aeroplanes were impressed into service at the outbreak of war with an A-type military designation but various B-types promptly overshadowed early "taube" aeroplanes.
