No, Allied petrol was better than German in 1918 because in desperation the Germans had resorted to stretch out their petrol supply by mixing it with alcohol (see archived thread). I also read that Fokker DVII units that operated from captured Allied airfields had problems with Allied petrol because it made their engines run too hot.

I guess the Allies used higher octane fuel (by the standards of the day) for airplanes than what was used in ground vehicles, but ask a expert.
