Other than the normal practice for camouflage and painting the outer wing struts the red and white sections, Mjr. Hawker's DH-2 was serial numbered 5964. This would appear prominantly on the rudder across the national stripes in plain black. The serials can be made up from model rail road lettering decal sheets from Microscale - Krasel ind. Try any good rail road hobby shop or Walthers model rail road supply.
A good reference would be Alex Revell's monograph published by Osprey titled "British Fighter Units, Western Front 1914 -1916.
