Fokker D.VII aircraft fitted with the Austro-Daimler engine (225 h.p.) DID exist. Several airframes were delivered from Fokker to MAG in 1918 to facilitate mass production there. Fokker was a part owner in the concern. They were listed as series 93 fighters. The contract was cancelled before many could be introduced. But, in the civil wars that followed the end of WWI you could see Austro-Daimler powered D.VII aircraft flying with the Czech, and Hungarian air forces. The distinctive Aviatik Berg D.I style radiator and expansion fitting fitted to them are plane to see as well as some examples with the Jaray four-bladed propeller with thin blades and offset angles.
Other examples of German built airframes powered by Mercedes or BMW engines were seen among the Bolshevik, Polish,Swiss, Swedish, Finnish, Latvian, and Estonian airforces to name a few.
