To all,

sorry for not replying to a lot of e-mails and pleas!

I had one after each other: a major computer breakdown with an enormous loss of data, my birthday celebration and some private problems which were very urgent.

I will answer to all e-mails during the next two days (if the Internet connection is holding this time).

Pease, be patient!

I know some people asked my for help in 1999, please repeate the requests because I lost all data of my Internet exchange and can not remember all the names, e-mail addresses and topics!

Very best regards

Hannes

PS: I am happy to the see the Forum again!

Hannes,
Welcome back. Some advice.....
a) Private problems.......they happen.
B) Birthday......stop having them.
c) Data loss......get a ZIP or JAZ drive and back up "alles". Having watched a hard drive go "kaput" two weeks before income tax time I'm advising you from the standpoint of a veteran sufferer.
Regards,
Mike

Thanks for the good wishes to All!

Mike,
c) I followed already your wise advice and have now a ZIP-drive to avoid the same damage again,
B) you are not serious - a dangerous advice, could kill me! :)
a) will happen always again but donīt stopp me!

Leo,
I was in Dresden but my PC tried on 3rd January to go to Valhalla after a heavy and foolish mistake of its master. Only some specialists (?) could save the device but with using "format C:"!

Gunnar,

at least I was never stopping to make the text of my project safe but I lost some tables in Excel with some hundred names of Saxon fliers and other related stuff. It will cost weeks to fix that and other stuff is finally lost.

VBR

Hannes

Hello Hannes,

It's good to see you back! I have been an irregular visitor to the Forum myself the past weeks. However, we all missed your detailed commentary on 1 Weltkrieg.

As unfortunate as it was to lose your files, I am sure you have more info in your head than most of us will ever know. It is to your credit that so many Forum experts have sent their regards.

Best Wishes for a Happy New Year!

Gary
