The French system was rather close to the German.
So you can, to a degree, compare the scores of German and French aces. Comparing either of them to the British is not feasable.

BTW: Imho there is not much point in these comparisons without consideration of all other relevant factors.

But seriously - do you think this'll go anywhere besides where it's gone before - a long spiral down into character assassination and verbal thuggery? You and I have, I think, similar views on this subject. But I question whether it's worthwhile to go at it again. It is plain to those with an objective eye that the Brits overclaimed by a hilarious proportion, but any attempt to reconcile their victory scores to reflect actual a/c downed - which, as recorded, seem misleading when compared to German or French totals - is only going to tread the toes of those who hold these men as Heroes Beyond Reproach.

Remember that the German scoring system is even more strict than that of the WW2 Allies, because those of the latter allowed partial victories (with fractions as scores), whereas in the German case a kill which could not be awarded to a single airmen was credited to the unit. So there's no 'punkt' there!

This reminds me of a limerick:

Seriously, though, there was an issue of Flight Journal that applied a more modern scoring method (one that allows for shared kills) to WWI aces. The results were kinda surprising. I'll see if I can dig it up and post the results here in the next day or two.
