Lt HE Sheppard 14 Squadron RFC?
I have this pilot sharing a victory with Lt CR Davidson. Davidson was flying a Bristol FB19 but what was Sheppard flying?
best regards Keith |
Hi Keith
I have Lieut Harold Easton Sheppard also in a Vickers F.B.19 and from somewhere I have got the serial 5233. However, this serial belonged to an F.E.2b with No 18 Squadron, so I suspect it should be A5233; if that is the case, it seems to have migrated to No 111 Squadron since I have Davidson flying it in that unit on 4 October 1917. Classic Graeme! :D
Another FB19 victory. Did Davidson take his scout to 111 Squadron I wonder? I haven't posted onto the 55 Squadron raids because you will have the Rennles book and will not try and compete when I had a source you hadn't. I hope you find it as good a source as I did. I know when I am overmatched :D I will also recommend the Wlliams's memoir. It is full of little details that inform the 55 Squadron history. The Morris IAF history is also very good. K |
Hi Keith
The Rennles book turned up early so I've been going through it over the last few days as time has permitted. I've highlighted a few anomalies but I'll post my thoughts when I've gone through the whole book. Graeme |
