Who Flew Puppchen
Having unfortunately hijacked the previous thread on Mimmi with Brzenk I am loathed to repeat this again. So i have started this new thread. In the link to Ebay provided by Askania for the photos of Brzenk I could not help but notice the photo of a new (to me) Albatros DVA marked with checkered tail and the name 'Puppchen', does anyone know who flew it and what colour were the checkers.
This I hope will give a link to the picture - perhaps some of the forums more computer literate may make the link more direct. Deutsches Jagd-Flugzeug mit Namen PUPPCHEN um 1918 im 1.WK |
Unfortunately the pilot is not known yet, but the aircraft was with Jasta 53 (Source: Emil POSSIN album).

 Do my eyes deceive me or is there no nosecone on this aircraft?
If so then it may be a Austrian plane.:) |
Barry,
I can see the dark gap between the fuselage and the spinner. The bracing strut, from the V-strut to the lower wing is also visible. It is a D.Va. Obral has identified its unit as Jasta 53. Steve |

I zoomed in & you can just see the white of the spinner in front of the dark gap when you enlarge the pic.:) |
