Gotha V

Just a couple of questions, are there any surviving Gotha bombers in museams, would like to be able to take pictures. Also if one wanted to build a full size replica of the Gotha V where could you get detailed drawings or plans for the above aircraft, also if anyone knows are there any builders who could undertake this.

As far as I know, the only Gotha G.V remains are in Belgium, and consist of an engine nacelle.

As to structural drawings, I don't know; I had a book titled "German Miliatry Aircraft" when I was a teenager, and it had a cutaway view of a G.IV. As to it's accuracy, I wouldn't begin to voice an opinion.

Ron Bloomquist

IIRC Ron Bloomquist was building a Gotha in Tennesseee - maybe a G.V or a G.IV - Not sure where that project ever ended up or if it was completed.

Speaking of a Gotha GV...check out the new 1/48 kit on Hyperscale today...it brings a whole new meaning to "Snakes on a Plane".

The last I saw on this G.IV repro was from WW I Aero 183, Feb 04 which had several photos of the almost-completed fuselage. It was/is modern steel tube construction. 'Twould be something to see in flight!

Rafe,
If you can find good engineering drawings on the Gotha, you would be a hero to several people. I have done quite a bit of research on it and have not found any thing more than simple drawings and pictures. I am still working on a couple of leads, but nothing too promising. Mike Van Der Laan is also a good reference for this. Also do some searching on here. There are a many posts about the Gotha bombers. PM me if you would like.

Sorry I haven't answered your post, been hectic around here. I have an associate who is in Germany on business, goin to have him do some research on data on the Gotha bomber. He will be back in about 4 to 5 weeks hopefully with good news.

Rafe,
If he finds some good information, I would be very interested in it. The museum in Munich is one resource i have not explored yet.
Thanks,
Kneel
