Previous Breguet's Crash Files

The Rules
1. All aircraft are of the 1914-18 period (Must have left the ground during this period).
2. The score board, link and rules must be copied to the beginning of each thread, so that we know where we are. The score board and the correct answer to the challenge must also be placed at end of each thread.
3. All "ACES" with a score of 5.0 or higher must obey the 3.0 hour handicap. All others with a score of ZERO to 4.99 may start immediately, if not sooner! Offenders will be dealt with severely!
4. To be eligible for correct ID an answer must include at least one characteristic of the aircraft that helped in it's identification.
5. And whom ever wins this challenge will have to provide a new one! If this can not be done for any reason, please PM Breguet and he will take over as host!
6. If an ace gives the correct answer too early, the challenge is over, he gets no point but has to post the next challenge. In lieu of the fact that the "novices" have in effect been "cheated" of their "exclusive" time that next post should be a relatively easy one. Anyone repeating the correct answer at the right time gets neither a point nor the right to post the next challenge.
7. The final arbitrator of all things to do with the "rules" is Breguet.

Aviatik CI :)

Wings, elevator and radiator....

Al Forbes 16 March 2011 01:20 PM

I'll go for Aviatik too but maybe a B (P 15)?
More chance of them going A. o. T.!

Al

Flamingo 16 March 2011 01:50 PM

Sorry guys, no Aviatik!

What is A. o. T.?

Al Forbes 16 March 2011 01:58 PM

Hi Joachim

I'm afraid it's "Arse over Tit"!

Afraid too it's not an Aviatik. Ah well.

Al Forbes 16 March 2011 02:05 PM

An Albatros BIII?
Much like the BII but a lower fin and rudder?
Almost Aviatik-like in fact!
Al

Lodzermensch 16 March 2011 02:08 PM

Hello,

I think, it is an Albatros C.III because of:

1. relatively high tail skid,
2. shape of the horizontal stabilizer – the shadow given by it suggests rounded shape rather than triangular,
3. rounded shape of the elevators’ trailing edges,
4 shape of the tail fin and a lower portion of the rudder,
5. two-bay wings layout with upper and lower wings of almost equal span,
6. centre section cut-out in upper wing,
7. inspection hatch at the side of the fuselage.

What is really interesting and misleading – there is side radiator not typical for the type but applied in some Albatros C.IIIs.

Regards

Marek

Bonsoir ŕ tous.

The " banana" wing and so far I can see Benz engine could be those of a DFW C I .

Cheers
Richard

albatros1234 17 March 2011 01:14 AM

i think its an albatros as well but a CI not CIII. my main reason is the radiator, and the shape in general plus it has the distinctive type of exhaust.so i say albatros CI

Flamingo 17 March 2011 01:29 AM

http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/img705ax.jpg

It is Alb B.III 1183/15!

The B.III was very similar to the C.III, differences were the radiator (although a few C.III had side radiators) and most important the different upper wing cut-out which is just visible on the picture.

Look here: Albatros

Point and next challenge :p to AL!
