Who Flew this Albatross ??
G'day All! I was browsing a book yesterday that I had brought back in the mid 1970s ( Warplanes & Air Battles of WW1 from Ure Smith History of the World Wars Library) & found an excellent pic of an Albatross DVa on page 115.
This aircraft appears to have the standard varnished fuselarge, the early type crosses, a dark coloured nose & top cowling panel & has the word "Gisi" just forward of the fuselarge cross. The Tail appears to also have been painted in a darker colour to the nose & the rear section is white as is the rudder. The serial No. D.7098/17 is clearly visible on the tail. However there is no mention of who flew this aircraft & which Jasta it belonged to. I am hoping one of our very knowledgable members might be able to enlighten me. Thanks in advance |
Hello Barry,
you'll find a view threads, when you search with the name "Gisi". Here is one for example: http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/ca...jasta-77b.html The Albatros is from Jasta 77b. Regards Rainer |
