German POWs in France

Hi,

who can help me tracing the way of a German POW in France?! Are there documents how give hints to where they were imprisoned? Or intelligence reports?

The man I am looking for came down on the "other side of the lines" in October 1918.

Frontflieger,

One way of finding out, is to contact the International Red Cross Committée, in Geneva, e-mail dcuche.GVA@icrc.org
Please note that they need as much specific details as possible, and that a search will cost you 80 CHF per hour, for a maximum of 4 hours.

Hello,

good answer, but the Red Cross was not able to help in the 1920'ties, therefor I don't think they can help now!

On the other hand I am sure, there must be French Archives with info about German POWs. Is Gilles out there or other knowing Frenchman?

I do not have my material here with me, but I do know that there are files in the French Service Historic de l'Armée de l'Air that deal with interrogations of German POWs. Might send them a request.
